Laminates
EXPEDITION KEVLAR
A strong, lightweight laminate for wilderness trippers who demand tremendous strength and durability.
Swift Expedition Kevlar canoes are built with a urethane resin system for durability and longevity, and a thin exterior gel coat for a beautiful finish that incorporates UV protection. This infusion process produces the highest inter-laminate shear strength of any composite hull in the industry. The hull is comprised of layers of Kevlar fabric, Basalt cloth derived from volcanic rock, and high modulus polypropylene Innegra fiber. These layers and pieces sandwich a durable foam core and rib system, creating a long lasting laminate capable of greater elongation and elasticity without failure.
The Expedition Kevlar laminate is available with multiple vibrant exterior colour cloth finishes.
KEVLAR FUSION
Our most popular canoe laminate with our highest strength to weight ratio.
Swift Kevlar Fusion canoes are built with a urethane resin system for durability and longevity, and a thin exterior gel coat for a beautiful finish that incorporates UV protection. This infusion process produces the highest strength to weight ratio and inter-laminate shear strength of any composite hull in the industry. The hull is comprised of an exterior layer of Polyester, as well as S-glass and Kevlar cloth layers sandwiching a durable foam core and rib system. The laminate is fused together with a high impact, flexible urethane acrylate resin system injected during high pressure infusion, producing optimal dispersion and laminate consistency.
The Kevlar Fusion laminate is available with multiple vibrant exterior colour cloth finishes.
CARBON FUSION
Stunning, remarkably light boats for those who want the lightest canoe available.
Swift Carbon Fusion canoes are built with a urethane resin system for durability and longevity, and a thin exterior gel coat for a beautiful finish that incorporates UV protection. Layers of Carbon, Kevlar, and Innegra cloth sandwich a durable foam core and rib system. The laminate is fused together with a high impact, flexible urethane acrylate resin injected during high pressure infusion, producing optimal dispersion and laminate consistency. These ultra-lightweight boats consist of an outer layer of Carbon fiber coupled with layers of Kevlar and high modulus polypropylene Innegra cloth to generate a hull optimized for lightness.
The Carbon Fusion laminate is available in a variety of stunning carbon finishes that utilize a variety of high grade ‘spread-tow’ carbon fabrics.
