Algonquin 16
The Algonquin 16 is one of our most popular models for good reason. It has excellent stability yet paddles and handles effortlessly. It inspires confidence in new paddlers, and parents in particular appreciate its roominess and stability. For photography, hunting, fishing and other activities that require a canoe to be lightweight, durable and stable, the Algonquin 16 has few equals.

Owner of Two Algonquins
Although the description makes the Algonquin sound like a beginner’s boat, I assure you that it is a very efficient paddling and portaging model. It is very capable on multi-day trips as well as day excursions. The Algonquin is very easy to get up onto the roof of my pick-up. This canoe also has all the carrying capacity you could ask for. I strongly recommend getting the sliding bow seat; makes it very easy to balance the boat if you’re travelling with paddlers of different sizes. Beginners might enjoy this canoe but life-long paddlers (I’m a former wilderness trip leader and instructor) will also find this a very satisfying boat.
Algonquin 16 Kevlar
Bought the Algonquin 16 Kevlar after we bought our RV trailer in 2013. We had a small dog at that time so we had a centre seat put in and the yolk balanced for carrying. We got classic red with white bottom. Very pleased with the light weight and the easy way it paddles. Mya got her own life jacket and really enjoyed our paddles.
