A versatile canoe
This is our first canoe, and we were looking for quite a lot from it: a tripping canoe for the family (2 adults and a dog), as well as a solo for longer trips. The Keewaydin 16 Combi fits the bill perfectly, with the bonus we could day trip with a 3rd person if we wanted. Its responsive and quick, and as a solo its great (with some ballast aboard for windy days). The 16 is just the right size for us, we typically pack light and could easily do 4-5 days in it with the dog, or much longer solo. Its a beautiful canoe, couldnt be happier, and looking forward to a lifetime of adventures with it!
We chose a light canoe
Love our keewaydin 16! So easy to carry for us seniors. But it is a solid performer. Got it May 2024 and have had it out on a lake with strong wind and big chop, on a river in high wind and current, and this boat tracked beautifully through all of that. Looking forward to many years of happy paddling (and less wind).
Amazing boat
What a beautiful boat! We took it out yesterday and had wind, waves and some flat water, it performed really well.
It is so light compared to our Prospector (which we also love), and it is so quick. It doesn’t turn into the wind either like our older canoe. The badger paddles also made a huge difference to our overall fatigue through the day. We can’t wait to
take it out on some loops!
A beautiful all-rounder.
Bought a 16″ Keewaydin in Ex. Kev (EK), w/ skid plates and a detachable kneeling thwart for solo play.
The boat is very stable and fast loaded for tandem trips. It is just a pleasure to be in aesthetically and comfort. The seats are lower then some may be used to, but they are very very comfortable and lower the center of gravity.
I wanted an option for solo paddling and opted to go with the detachable kneeling thwart vs center seat (detachable). I think it is a great addition for versatility if you cannot afford another more solo oriented craft.
In general the canoe is a fine example of craftmanship, design & engineering and innovation to connect people to the water ways that sculpt this land.
Keewaydin for me!
I wanted a lightweight tandem I could take on long trips some with long portages. It was between the Swift Keewaydin and Prospector. I’m really glad I chose the Keewaydin 16. It’s so nimble and tracks beautifully. I can still fit enough gear for a long trip but need to pack a little bit less than my old town discovery. I still use the discovery to run rapids but the Keewaydin is like paddling royalty. You feel good when you’re in it. That’s the best I can describe it. And my wife likes it which is a huge plus.
